Last day of 2020!

Last walk of the year and then...

New Year's Eve take-out dinner!

What a year it has been! Definitely one for the history books, but we try to focus on the positive side of things: we feel lucky that we are healthy, as are our families. We have a house that we love and don't mind spending lots and lots of time in. We feel safe in our little bubble. Remote schooling and partly working from home hasn't been easy, but we are all in the same boat, so I try not to stress about it.

No stress - yes - that's also the reason why we decided to not cook on New Year's Eve but spoil ourselves with a fancy meal from a place I just discovered (thanks to a local Facebook group I am part of): Sweet Lily Bakery. They are located at 3315 Cahuenga Blvd W, Los Angeles, CA 90068, and OMG, what a gem! The French owners went above and beyond to offer this fabulous 4-course meal for the sweet price of $45/person. We ordered 3 meals (2 fish, 1 steak) and that was plenty for the four of us (especially since the kids are picky eaters and didn't eat everything anyway). We stayed up until midnight and watched the fireworks from our balcony. We loved saying goodbye to 2020 and cheers to 2021!!!

De kortste dag

 d e   k o r t s t e   d a g

nog nooit was de dag

zo kort als vandaag

nog nooit ging de zon

zo vroeg onder

nog nooit viel het duister

zo onverwachts in

nog nooit was

gewoon

zo bijzonder

nog nooit was de nacht

zoveel langer en banger

dan nu

in dit jaar

zo ver

van elkaar

nog nooit was de dag

zo kort als vandaag

geen mens weet

wat morgen

zal brengen

maar hoop overwint

zelfs de donkerste nacht

straks zullen

de dagen

weer lengen
