Last Sunday, we decided to give the Los Angeles Zoo another try, and it was indeed a much bigger success than our first visit. We were also lucky that Lily had not turned 2 yet. Kids under 2 get in free, as of 2 yrs old, you have to pay 9 dollars!
It was a hot day, so most animals were lazy and taking a nap. Lily got all excited because she could explain to us what they were doing: "Mommy, night-night!!!".
Big gorilla, enjoying some grass in the shade of the rocksBut the biggest shock to Lily must have come from the zebras.

Lily saw one zebra take a HUUUUGE dump (4 big poo-poos!!!) right in front of her and of course, it smelled awful. She just couldn't get over it that the zebra would do that, in public, right there!!! Immediately, she pointed at it and said: EEEEEW!
We didn't pay much attention to it further and just continued our tour of the Zoo.
The next day, I told our daycare lady that we had gone to the Zoo the day before, and she told me: Oh good. I 'll practice some animal names with Lily later today! Then later that day, when I went to pick up Lily, she told me the funniest story. She said, when she showed Lily a picture of a Zebra, Lily immediately shouted: Poo-poo, Eeew, and grabbed her nose shut with one hand and waved with the other (to wave the bad smell away). Hilarious!!! I can't believe her memory is so developed already that she would remember that! Now every time we ask her: What does the zebra do?, she exclaims: Poo-poo!
Poor zebra!
