Pumpkin Patch

It's October so it's all about pumpkins around here! We went to Boccali's in Ojai last weekend to pick our own pumpkins. We will probably carve them next weekend, just in time for Halloween!

This is what I get when I ask "Please, smile for the camera, Lily!"
Ennio. not scared at all of the scarecrow!

Exploring everything there is to see!
One of the highlights: On a hayride through the fields of Ojai!!!
Lily enjoyed it too!

Hey daddy, here's my pumpkin!!!
Bye bye!
It was a great afternoon in Ojai!  We met up with Evy and Bram, Zoé and Elise, and their friends Paul and Emily, Nathan and James, who had already picked their pumpkins by the time we got there (around 4 PM). Unfortunately, after our visit of the farm, it started to get cloudy and rainy, so we had to hurry to eat our dinner (a delicious buffet outside the restaurant). The tomatoes (home-grown) tasted so good, I swear I would go back there just to have some more!

What else is new here?

* Lily is finally not having a pacifier anymore! It was about time, she will be turning 4 next month! She was so addicted to her "tutje" I thought it was going to be a hell of a battle, but it actually went easier than expected.

She was already not having it anymore during the day, but she still used it 1) to go to bed at night, 2) to nap in the car, and 3) when extremely exhausted, close to a meltdown and needing some comfort.

Last Monday (Oct. 15) she went to bed without it. I had talked to her all evening about how "schnulli's" are for babies and how she is a big girl now, almost 4, and how she would get a bike if she could sleep without a schnulli. (We are planning on giving her her first bike for her 4th birthday). She got totally excited about the bike and went to bed without problem! Asked just once for her tutje, but I told her to close her eyes and have her tutje "in her dreams". And it worked! She did not wake up once during the night. The next morning she came to me, extremely proud, saying "I slept with my tutje in my dreams!!!" and then "Can I have my bike now?" Haha! Of course, we said she can only have the bike once it's her birthday and she has proven she doesn't need her tutje anymore at all. She seems to understand the deal!

* Last Friday, she accidentally bumped heads with another girl in school, and seriously hurt her teeth (gums bleeding like crazy!). We had to see the dentist, and there is a chance that her front teeth will fall out. They are loose now, so they may get firmer, or fall out. The dentist took X-rays and we can already see her real teeth, but they are not ready to come out yet, there is still a lot of bone, it will at least be another 1.5 yrs before those teeth will come out! So, let hope she can keep her baby teeth for another little while now! (although her roots are pretty short - we'll just have to wait and see).

* Ennio is doing great too. Walking like a pro, even though there is still some falling and the occasional head bump involved!  Talking about Ennio, he is just waking up from his nap now. Time to get back to business. Until the next blog!

ZOEF!

- Lola's 5e verjaardagsfeestje in Ernest E. Debs Park in South Pasadena.

- Aidan's 4e verjaardagsfeestje in Kidspace.

Bij elke rollercoaster vroeg ze: "Can we go again?".

Alles goed dus hier. Hopelijk bij jullie hetzelfde!

Groetjes!
