Hello! We just got back from
Niagara Falls where we spent a short holiday and celebrated the
4th of July, the United States Independence Day.

This wasn't the only B-day we celebrated. On Monday, I turned... 32, which of course called for a toast with champagne! The next day, we left for Niagara.

The drive to the falls made for a great 7-hour road trip. We started out in
Connecticut, crossed
Massachusetts and drove through
New York State for most part of the trip. NY State is so green!!! The roads were not busy at all (we took toll roads, maybe that's why) except for some huge American trucks that we passed on the way - what a sight!

We stopped and had lunch in
Albany, the capital of the State of New York.
Eva and I at Franklin's Tower restaurant in downtown Albany.
Arriving around 7 at night, we were just in time for a perfect view of the falls by dusk.

We grabbed our passports and walked to the
Rainbow Bridge, totally excited to cross the border to
Canada (my first time into Canada)!

On our way to Canada!

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls seems to be much more lively than the American side, there's lots of entertainment going on. It looked to me like a little Las Vegas. Lots of fun, but I was happy we spent the night on the much more quiet American side!

Walking back to our hotel around midnight, we enjoyed a spectacular view of the
illuminated falls!

The next morning, it was pouring rain, but never mind, today we were going to get wet anyway!!!
First of all, we did a
jet boat tour on the river (we chose the
"dry" tour, a bit disappointing, I must say) and in the afternoon, we saw the falls from REALLY UP-CLOSE by going on the
Maid of the Mist tour.

Now, THAT was an adventure! It was so cool! We got so close to/in the falls, it was fantastic. We ended up soaked of course, but at least we can say, we really "experienced" the Niagara Falls, haha!
Eva, looking like a "smurf" (her own words!)
At night, we went to Hyde Park and watched the fireworks for 4th of July from Prospect Point. Fireworks AND illuminated falls by night, what a sight!

The following morning we said goodbye to Niagara and headed back home to Connecticut.

Lunch this time was held in downtown
Buffalo, NY, at
Vito's Market, an Italian gourmet deli, mmm.
And so, we got home a couple of hours ago...
Time to go to bed now! Until soon!
