Tobi and Kelly's wedding!

Pootje baden in het water (no idea how you say this in English)

Hello everyone! We just got back from Connecticut where Tobi (Marcus's brother) and Kelly got married last Saturday, August 21. Tobi and Kelly live in Milford, CT, right by the beach. They had a beach wedding, everything was very laid-back and relaxing. We had a wonderful time!

We took a Virgin America flight from LAX to JFK on Thursday. Lily did reasonably well on the plane. She slept for about 1.5 hours and the rest of the time (3.5 hours) we kept her entertained with an Elmo DVD (her new best friend), taking little walks through the corridor, waving "bye" to people, eating snacks, etc, etc... It all worked out, but I was glad we were finally there and the flight was not any longer! At JFK, we went from our own terminal to International Arrivals (terminal 1) where Oma Eva had just landed! We only had to wait about half an hour, and there she was! Soooo excited to see Lily again! Lily immediately warmed up to her and kept saying "oma, oma!" So cute!

Once we got to Milford, we met up with Tobi and his soon-to-be-wife (first time I met her!) and her family. One of her older brothers has 2 little kids (2 boys, 3 and 7 yrs) and Lily immediately went to play with them! We all got along really well and it was a fun evening getting to know everyone.

The next day, Friday, we spent at the beach.

We finished the day with a delicious meal at The Lazy Lobster. They'd set up a table for us on the beach! How relaxing to eat crabcakes, shrimp and lobster with your bare feet in the white sand! Lily didn't care much for the fish, but ate all the more watermelon! Definitely one of her favorite fruits!

Saturday, big wedding day!!!
We went out to have breakfast in a local diner.

Cute pic of Lily drinking her orange juice (she loves "juice" and can say this word very well!)

Marcus then went out to help Tobi set up "the wedding scene" in Guilford by the beach. It looked beautiful!

A job well done! (in the background, you can see Kelly's other brother, Josh, and his girlfriend, who are getting married in 2 weeks!)

Detail of the "walkway", full of sunflowers, Kelly's favorite flower.

The ceremony was beautiful, so very personal and touching. Tobi played the guitar and sang a song, just for Kelly.

After the vows... time for pictures! (while Lily decides it is time to clean up the runway and pull out the flowers!!!)

Around 6, we headed to the Stone House Restaurant for the wedding dinner. Yum yum, everything tasted great!

I don't think I ever attended such a relaxed wedding (except our own, which was very small and intimate as well!) Tobi and Kelly, we had a great time and wish you all the best for the future!

On Sunday, we just hung out at the newlywed's apartment. It was raining outside (they got so lucky it didn't rain on Saturday!!!) so time was spent playing Wii. I grabbed the chance to read some more in my newest book, One Day, by David Nicholls. I love it! (in fact, can't wait till I finish this blog, so I can continue reading!)

Monday came way too soon, time to say good-bye. We got back on our plane to LAX, but not without taking Oma Eva with us!!! Yes, Oma Eva is spending another 2 weeks with us in LA and Lily is over the moon. It is so nice to see them bonding together. They are spending hours and hours outside, cleaning the patio, watering the plants, playing in the garden... Can't wait till the weekend, so I can join in the fun!

Oops, I just hit my head!!!

En vandaag is ze alweer 21 maanden. Zucht, wat vliegt de tijd! Maar we blijven genieten, elke seconde!

Bergamot Station @ Santa Monica

Nightie-Night!
