In the USA
Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June, whereas in Belgium all fathers were honored last week, the second Sunday of June. So I called my dad last weekend to wish him a Happy Father's Day. This weekend the focus was on Marcus!
We seem to be very busy during the week lately, so we like to take it easy during the weekends... in as far as that is possible with 2 very energetic kids! I had received an e-mail from the
LA Film Fest announcing their "Family Day", a free public event with lots of activities for the entire family to enjoy (a play-doh creativity station, photo booth, real fire truck and police car, balloon animals, face painting, etc). Since the event was sponsored by Hasbro Studios, the main stars would be the ponies of My Little Pony, a show Lily loves. We had planned to get to
L.A. LIVE earlier, but for some reason it always takes us forever to get going, so we ended up only getting there around 3:00 pm (the event was held from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm). No worries, though, Ennio had gotten a good nap and was overly excited when he saw the police car and the fire truck ("tauto"). He spent the entire hour in and around those cars and cried inconsolably when we had to leave (because we had to! It was 4 o'clock!). Lily liked the cars too, but was also into the ponies of course. She also complained a bit that the fun was all done after just one hour...
To compensate, we sat down at Wolfgang Puck's and had a delicious ice cream!

On Sunday, the actual father's day, we let "papa" sleep in and then surprised him with a nice, big breakfast spread served in the living room. He got 2 funny cards from Lily and Ennio, and I had gotten him the
Olloclip lens for his iPhone. We take a lot of pictures with our phones and this lens lets you take fish-eye, wide-angle and macro photos, a very cool gadget!

We had planned to go to the
Science Center in the afternoon, but the kids were so exhausted by the time we wanted to go, that we let go of that plan. Oh well!
