Off to Peru

Still packing like crazy to get ready to leave for Peru tomorrow morning (leaving the house at 3:30 AM - ouch). Our friends Sofia and Chad are getting married in Cuzco. We'll be back in a week!

Pamela's adventures in cycling...

Pamela and Maristella in Irvine

Hello hello everyone! Instead of writing about the usual this and that on this site, I thought I'd spend some blogspace on one of my very dear friends who is going to ride a bicycle 545 miles (877 kilometers!!!), from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to raise money and awareness for HIV & AIDS.

Yes, Pamela is participating in the 6th Aids/LifeCycle taking place June 3-9, 2007.

How she does it, I don't know. Having no particular experience in cycling, she decided to take on the challenge and has been training for the ride since January. Her dedication is overwhelming and an inspiration...

Here's what she has to say about it:

"Just wanted to give you a quick update on my cycling progress as I prepare for the 545-mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June to raise money for treatment for people with HIV and AIDS. I'm sending along a recent photo of me and my friend Maristella cruising along a bike path in Irvine , where the whole town seems to cycle on weekends.

I've been bicycling to work once or twice a week - from Beverly Hills to Encino & back. It's a good workout - about 30 miles roundtrip and hilly. I have a great path I take through a park & up & over the hill into the valley. My clients are a little startled by the bicycle in my office, but it makes for a good conversation piece. Also doing lots of cycling on the weekends with my training group - a hellacious route through Bel Air & a lovely ride along the beach into the hills of Palos Verdes.

Thanks so much to all of you who have contributed to the AIDS ride, and for those that are considering it, there's still time!"

Every cyclist is required to raise a minimum of $2,500 in donations! If you'd like to help Pamela achieve her fundraising goal, you can go to http://www.aidslifecycle.org/1997 to donate! Or just spread the word...

POWER OUTAGES all over L.A.!

Groetjes,

Ilse
